Questions about budget coaching
Straight answers about how coaching works, YNAB, and what to expect.
Getting started
Is the intro call really free?
Yes, completely. It's 15 minutes to see if coaching makes sense for you. No prep, no pressure, no pitch.
Is this for beginners?
Yes, and also for people who've been using YNAB for a while but feel stuck. If YNAB hasn't clicked yet, coaching is usually the fastest way to make it click.
What if I'm just not good with money?
Almost everyone feels that way at first. Here's the thing worth knowing: managing money is a skill, not a personality trait. No one is born good at it. Like any skill, it gets easier with the right guidance and a little practice, and that's exactly what a coach is for. You don't need to be "good with numbers" to build a money plan you trust.
What if my finances are a total mess?
That's a completely normal place to start. Whether you have bills you've lost track of, accounts everywhere, or you just don't know where to begin, coaching gives you a clear first step. We untangle things together, one piece at a time.
Who is your coaching for?
Anyone who wants to build a better relationship with their money. I work with people of all backgrounds, identities, income levels, and life situations. Whether you're single, in a relationship, supporting a family, or figuring things out on your own, you're welcome here.
YNAB
Do I need to already have YNAB?
Yes. Coaching is built around the YNAB software and method, so you'll need an active subscription. YNAB's standard free trial is 34 days. As a YNAB Certified Coach, I can offer my clients an extended free trial: working with me adds two more months (60 days), so you have more time before you need to pay for a YNAB subscription.
What if I already have my own money system?
That means you already care about your money. Great starting point. Whether you've built a spreadsheet system or manage several accounts for different purposes, coaching can help you see where YNAB simplifies your approach and saves you time.
Working together
Do you work with couples?
Yes. A shared money system makes a big difference for couples. Sessions can be just me and you, or me with you and your partner.
Do you coach in Spanish?
Yes. As a bilingual money coach, I work with both English and Spanish speakers.
Do you offer in-person sessions in Sacramento?
Yes. I offer in-person coaching sessions in the Sacramento area, including Elk Grove, Roseville, Folsom, Davis, and Rancho Cordova. Remote sessions via video call are also available for clients anywhere in California or the US.
Can coaching help if I have debt?
Coaching can help you organize your money around debt payments: seeing everything in one place, choosing a payoff focus, and building a spending plan that makes room for it. I don't negotiate or settle debt, and coaching isn't legal or financial advice. If you need those services, coaching can work alongside them.
Are you a financial advisor?
No. I'm a YNAB Certified Coach, trained to teach the YNAB method. I don't provide investment advice or financial planning services.
